Analysis of angular and energy spectra of the high-current relativistic electron beam in a magnetic field
Description
A new technique for determining angular and energy distribution of high-current relativistic beam electrons in a magnetic field by a method of registration of luminescence in a visible part of spectrum of thin dielectric films placed on the path of moving electrons is described. Beam parameters are the following: 70 keV energy, 100 kA current, 90 ns duration. The beam was injected into vacuum in 6 kOe longitudinal magnetic field or into previously produced plasma of a concentration from 5x1013 to 5x1012 cm-3. Length of a plasma column is 2.5 m. Drift chamber diameter is 15 cm. Input beam diameter is 3 cm. Measured angular smearing of the beam in plasma may not be attributed to the Coulomb collisions and is related to collective effects. A structure of relativistic electron analyzer with respect to angles and energies in the magnetic field is proposed
