PNGMDR 2013-2015. Project of storage of low-level-long-life radioactive wastes. Stage report 2015

The project of storage of low-level-long-life radioactive wastes aims at complementing other storage projects which address other types of radioactive wastes. This report draws lessons from geological studies performed between 2013 and 2015, and from studies and researches performed by various actors (agency and waste producers). It first presents the studied wastes: radiferous wastes, graphite wastes, and Marcoule bituminous low-level-long-life wastes. It proposes an assessment of geological studies performed on the territory of the Soulaines community of communes. It gives an overview of safety and security principles for the design of a storage for this type of wastes. It presents design options: storage depth and associated digging techniques, storage with earthwork from the surface, storage in underground galleries. It proposes a first storage safety assessment (safety analysis after closure and during exploitation), and finally proposes axes for future studies
