CAD calculation of ultrasonic field focusing parameters in materials testing

Creators

Description

The use of focusing probes in ultrasonic testing of coarse-grain materials, e.g., austenitic steels, significantly improves the signal-to-noise ratio. The application is described of computers in determining focusation parameters and in designing a lens for a focusing probe. The method is explained for calculating the position of the acoustic focus for a curved test surface, and flow charts are shown of two programs in BASIC. (M.D.). 2 figs., 3 refs
