Using heat pipes for cooling detectors and preamplifiers inside the vacuum chamber of the accelerator in a spectrometer of recoil nuclei

Description
The spectrometer of recoil nuclei operating at the Dubna synchrophophasotron is briefly described. The method of cooling semiconducting detector telescopes and preamplifiers of the spectrometer, placed inside a vacuum chamber of the accelerator, by means of heat pipes (HP) is described. The HP basic properties and the peculiarities of their design are presented. The design and technology of making the heat pipes used in the spectrometer are described in detail. The conduction of the heat pipes (6O cm long, 12 mm in diameter, having freon-22 as a heat-transfer agent) is 20-30 times higher than that of copper. The use of the spectrometer in experiments has shown a reliable and effective operation of HP
