Study of horizontal-vertical interactive Sway Rocking (SR) model for basemat uplift. Part 1: formulation of non-linear characteristics of soil spring

Description

An evaluation method for the earthquake response at a low ground contact ratio is investigated. In order to evaluate the induced vertical motion due to the basemat uplift by using a relatively simple mathematical model, Sway Rocking model (SR model) for horizontal - vertical interactive response analysis is studied. An analytical study for the non-linear characteristics of the soil springs, which are attached to the SR model, is performed to formulate these characteristics by a function of the ground contact ratio.
