Fluctuations in multiple hadron production in nucleus-nucleus collisions at p0 = 4.2 GeV/c per nucleon

  • 1. Joint Inst. for Nuclear Research, Dubna (USSR)

Description

The method of factorial moments (Fi) is used to study fluctuations of the multiplicities of hadrons produced in nucleus-nucleus interactions at po = 4.2 GeV/c per nucleon. The experimental results indicate that the average values (Fi) depend on the widths of the rapidity intervals δγ according to a power law, and this implies the existence of fluctuations related to the dynamics (or to the formation of clusters) of the studied collisions. This does not depend on the primary energy or on the type of colliding objects. The results obtained here agree with previously published data
