Radiobiologic effect of gamma-radiation and hyperthermia combined action in ultra-high frequency electromagnetic field
- 1. Nauchno-Issledovatel'skij Rentgeno-Radiologicheskij i Onkologicheskij Inst., Kiev (Ukraine)
Description
The culture of human peripheral blood leucocytes at pre synthetic G-1 phase of mitotic cycle was used to study cytogenetic affection of PBL by gamma-irradiation (cesium-137, dose rate - 0.022 Gy/min) combined with electromagnetic thermal radiation in different sequences. Metaphase method was used to analyse chromosomal aberrations. According to total number of chromosomal aberrations per 100 cells the authors revealed marked radiosensibilizing effect of electromagnetic hyperthermia combined with protracted gamma-irradiation at G-1 stage of mitotic cycle. In clinic it is preferable to use pre radiation hyperthermia at 42 degree C during 1 hour. Specific thermal radiosensibilization of ultra-high frequency electromagnetic field is absent at subcellular level
