Description

We present a comparative feasibility study of various coil construction concepts for the non-destructive generation of 100 T fields, based on the characteristics of the most suitable magnet wire and the strongest reinforcement composites. Presently, the nested coil system (coilin/coilex) is the most promising. The optimum design uses a conventional large 60 T coil for coilex and a 40 T coil of the Leuven type for coilin, that is to say a coil which has an optimized internal reinforcement. (orig.)
