Description
Work function measurements have been applied to study the solid state reactions in the oxide systems Co3O4-MoO3 and Mn2O3-MoO3. The studies confirm earlier results indicating that the formation of both CoMoO4 and MnMoO4 begins at about 5500C. The investigations also indicate that the transport of MoO3 through the gas phase should be taken into consideration for both systems at least in the early stages of the reactions. The method of measurements of contact potential difference has been found to be useful in monitoring the reactions in solid state. (author)
