A study of C.S.F. dynamics in the spine using isotopic cisternography

Description

Physiology teaches that in addition to the basic areas of C.S.F. resorption in the region of the cerebrum, supplementary zones exist situated at the coverings of the spinal nerves. A quantitative and dynamic analysis of spinal flow in 74 subjects, 64 having clinical signs of communicating hydrocephalus was performed. In certain of them, classical examinations provided no precise indications as to the appropriate neurosurgical procedure. Study of the dynamics and resorption of the C.S.F. in the spine would appear to provide new elements in assessment prior to the decision to insert a ventriculo-atrial valve
