A solution for the diffusion cooling function for thermal neutrons

Description

Nelkin's theory of the decay of the thermalized neutron pulse in a volume defined by the geometrical buckling B2 is used. In this approach the thermal neutron energy spectrum Φ(E) is developed in a series of functions Φ2n(E) at the buckling powers B2n. A method is presented to get numerically a solution for the second term, the thermal neutron diffusion cooling function Φ2(E), from the defining equation. (author). 14 refs
