Determination of local effective charge of a high-temperature plasma with by means of resonance fluorescence

  • 1. AN SSSR, Moscow. Inst. Vysokikh Temperatur

Description

New methods of determining local effective charge of plasma ions Zeff, that is based on determination of hydrogen spectral line homogeneous width with Stark broadening by charged particle field, are presented. Methods are concerned with determination of Stark broadening at the background of wide Doppler contour, characteristic for high-temperature plasma conditions. Hydrogen line homogeneous width is determined by means of observation of laser fluorescence line contours at the right angle with the searching beam. As a searching light source a dye retuned laser with 0.1 generation line width was used. Methods are checked on small TB-1 tokamak where uniform width of Hα hydrogen line is locally measured. Computations permitting to determine Zeff both in small experimental installations and in peripheric plasma of large thermonuclear set-ups are carried out
