Observation on the quantum numbers of linked Z-string

Description
The quantum numbers of linked Z-string configurations due to fermion zero modes is discussed. Treating the weak mixing angle (θw) as a free parameter, we find that the energy is minimized when sin2thinspθw=3/8 and that the quantum numbers take on very simple values at this value of sin2thinspθw. In particular, the baryon number is NF/2, exactly as for the sphaleron. copyright 1998 The American Physical Society
