Experimental study of the S wave in a π0π0 system

Description
The paper deals with the continuation of the investigation π0π0 system which is formed a charge-exchange reaction: π-p → M0 n; M0 → π0π0 → 4 γ, when π-meson beam pulse is 38 GeV/s. The partial wave analysis of π0π0 system is performed in a wide range of 4-pulse transmissions (up to 1 GeV/s)2 to study t-dependence of S-wave in the region of π0π0 masses of about 1 GeV. This region is of great interest, since S*/f0(980) resonance is present here, which resonance is the lightest one of scalar mesons (JPCIG = 0++0+) whose nature remains mysterious since 1970s. 7 refs., 3 figs
