Resistance of non-seismically qualified equipment to general design earthquake

Description

For CANDU 600 MWe Cernavoda Nuclear Power Plant there is a requirement to check the design of non-seismically qualified equipment part of the plant in accordance with National Building Code of Canada or an equivalent code for civil construction. This action, started in March 1993, was recently finalized by Ansaldo/AECL Consortium task force for the equipment located in the main Nuclear Power Plant buildings, i. e. Reactor Building, Service Building and Turbine Building. This paper summarizes the evaluation of the non-seismically qualified equipment for GDE, with a focus on the calculations/analysis performed.
