Chemistry of complex uranium compounds
Description
A survey is presented of knowledge acquired and results achieved by UJV in the field of uranium chemistry for coping with the technology of nuclear fuel preparation, i.e., preparation of UO2 pellets or fuel spheres prepared by the sol-gel process. The chemistry is discussed of the wet conversion of UF6 to uranium dioxide. The possibilities are dealt with of displacing fluorine from the uranyl fluoride complex as well as methods of uranyl extraction and re-extraction. Data are presented on the structure of the uranyl bond in hydroxocomplexes. (E.S.)
