Living radical polymerization using gamma-initiation
Description
This paper will discuss the use of reversible-addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization in conjunction with gamma initiation. Several issues will be covered, viz, the kinetics of the reactions and using gamma to probe mechanistic features of the reaction. In addition gamma grafting will be covered as a route to solid phases for combinatorial chemistry. I will also discuss a route to grafting using atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) where gamma is used to generate initiating sites on the substrate polymer. Some results involving the use of UV irradiation will also be discussed
