Description
The paper presents the results of research on high-temperature oxidation of hafnium-nickel alloys. Alloying hafnium with 2-8% Ni considerably increases scaling, apparently owing to the formation of an HfNi phase on the scale-alloy boundary. This phase, together with the intermetallic phases in the alloys, substantially reduces the solubility of oxygen therein. (author)
