A view regarding the completion of the Temelin nuclear power plant

Description

Completion of the Temelin nuclear power plant will bring about the following assets: (i) sufficient electricity generation necessary to increase the efficiency of Czech economy and to meet the ever-increasing demands of households, at a cost which is lower than for any other newly constructed facility; (ii) a strategic level of energy independence of the country (iii) improved competitiveness of the Czech power sector within the European Union; (iv) avoiding a further burden in the international balance of payments arising from the imports of electricity and/or other energy carriers; (v) creating conditions for meeting Czech Republic's commitments regarding greenhouse gases and for trading greenhouse gas emission licences; (vi) electricity generation will pay back the cost of construction of the plant.
