Phase equilibrium in the TiO2-Ho2O3 system
- 1. AN SSSR, Moscow. Inst. Khimicheskoj Fiziki
Description
Methods of sample annealing in the air and melting in a sun furnace haVe used to stUdy interaction of TiO2 and Ho2O3 oxides in the temperature range from 900 deg C to 1600 deg C. According to the obtained phase diagram of TiO2-Ho2O3 system two compounds Ho2Ti2O7 and Ho2TiO5 with oxide ratio TiO2:Ho2O3=2:1 and 1:1 are formed in the system. Ho2Ti2O7 has cubic structure of pyrochlorine type (a=(10.099+-0.003)A). Ho2TiO5 has two polymorphous modifications (cubic and hexagonal) with transition temperature equal to approximation 1100 deg C
