Radiochemical investigation of chalcogenide films

Description
A new procedure for studying the composition and kinetics of growth of cadmium sulfide films with the use of the tracer technique is described. The procedure makes it possible to control a change in the composition of the growing film and to determine the equilibrium state depending on the parameters affecting the process with the use of two reaction solutions containing, respectively, cadmium-115 m, sulfur-35, and cadmium 115 m, carbon-14. A change in thickness and composition of cadmium sulfide films has been studied in a wide range of conditions of their precipitation. It has been shown experimentally that when thiourea is used as a precipitator, cadmium sulfide films contain noticeable amounts of cadmium hydroxide and cyanamide. Shown is the possibility of producing sulfide films with a wide variation of thickness and chemical composition which can be used in synthesis of thin-layer sorbents for solving radiochemical, radioanalytical, and technological problems
