Luminescent photoproducts of 8-methoxypsoralen
Description
Photochemical reactions of 8-methoxypsoralen (8-MOP) in ethanol, acetone, benzene, CCl4 and water were investigated using luminescence methods. In organic solvents under UV-A irradiation (366 nm) brightly fluorescent photoproducts of 8-MOP were formed. Spectra of photoproducts formed in the air and in vacuum differed greatly. Photoxidation of 8-MOP proceeded through the triplet state and resulted in formation of dimeric O2-(8-MOP)2 and monomeric O2-8-MOP photoproducts. (author)
