ErVO4-II, a Scheelite-type high-pressure modification of erbium orthovanadate

  • 1. Regensburg Univ. (Germany, F.R.). Inst. fuer Anorganische Chemie

Description

Mr=282.20, tetragonal, I41/a, a=5.003 (1), c=11.143 (2) A, V=278.91 A3, Z=4, Dx=6.72 Mg m-3, λ(Mo Kα)=0.71073 A, μ=1.58 mm-1, F(000)=492, T=298 K. The structure was refined to R=0.035, wR=0.037 for 478 absorption-corrected observed reflections. The high-pressure modification ErVO4-II, prepared at 40 kbar and 1525 K, crystallizes with the scheelite-type structure and comprises VO4 tetrahedra [V-O=1.722 (3) A] and ErO8 dodecahedra [Er-O=2.333 (3) (4x), 2.368 (3) A (4x)].
