Description
We discuss a relationship between certain one-dimensional quantum spin chains and anyon chains. In particular, we show how the XXZ Heisenberg chain is realized as a D3 (alternatively su(2)4) anyon model. We find that the difference between the models lies primarily in the choice of boundary conditions. (paper)
