Breeder safety and the supporting European R + D-program
Description
Fast breeder reactor safety in Europe has been structured according to the collaboration adopted in 1984 between the countries and research entities of France, Federal Republic of Germany, Italy, Belgium and Britain. The various research themes for the future large breeder reactors SNR 2, Superphenix 2 and CDFR are commonly defined and executed. Recently the so-called Fast European Reactor as a common model type was put forward by the utilities. Most of the so-called work packages for safety have already been agreed upon, with the rest to come soon. An additional flow of safety knowledge derives from the already operating research and prototype breeder reactors. (author)
