A solution for the Graetz problem in parallel plates, with axial heat conduction in the fluid and in the wall
Description
A heat transfer problem in parallel plates with infinite with has been solved, with axial heat conduction in the fluid and in the wall, considering steady-state laminar flow for a Newtonian fluid and a fully developed velocity profile. The duct consists of an infinite inicial part, insulated on both plates, an intermediale part of finite length, with a prescribed heat flux in the upper plate and insulated on the botton plate, and by another infinite part also insulated on both plates. The problem has been solved by a numerical combination of the integral equation method and the variational method. Both, the performance of the numerical technique employed and results obtained are analyzed in this work. It is demostrated that the heat conduction in the wall significantly modifies the heat transfer parameters. (Author)

Apresenta-se um problema de transmissao de calor em placas paralelas de largura infinita, com conducao axial de calor na parede e no fluido. Considerou-se escoamento laminar em regime permanente, com perfil de velocidade plenamente desenvolvido para um fluido Newtoniano. O duto e constituido de um porcao inicial, de comprimento infinito, isolada em ambas as placas (superior e inferior); de uma porcao intermediaria, de comprimento finito, aquecida por um fluxo de calor prescrito na placa superior e isolada na placa inferior; e de uma porcao final, de comprimento infinito, isolada tambem em ambas as placas (superior e inferior). O problema foi resolvido atraves de uma combinacao numerica entre o metodo de equacoes integrais e o metodo variacional. Foi feito uma analise da tecnica numerica empregada e dos resultados obtidos neste trabalho. E demonstrado que a conducao axial de calor na parede modifica significantemente os parametros de transmissao de calor. (Autor)Additional details
