Act on the peaceful uses of atomic energy and protection against its hazards (Atomic Energy Act) Revised as of 1st October 1975
Description
This Act, whose purpose is to promote the development of nuclear power while ensuring that such development will not harm national security and the health and property of the population, covers all nuclear activities. It therefore supplies the legal framework applicable to imports and exports of nuclear fuels and their transport: it defines the system for licensing and control of nuclear installations; it also contains the provisions on the third party liability of operators of land-based installations and nuclear ships. This Act was amended on several occasions since its publication in 1959 and the latest revision came into force on 1st October 1975. (N.E.A.)
Abstract (French)
La presente Loi qui a notamment pour objet d'encourager le developpement des utilisations de l'energie nucleaire tout en empechant que ces utilisations ne portent atteinte a la securite nationale ou a la sante et aux biens de la population, couvre l'ensemble des activites nucleaires. C'est ainsi qu'elle fournit le cadre juridique applicable aux importations et aux exportations de combustibles nucleaires ainsi qu'a leur transport; elle definit le regime d'autorisation et de controle des installations nucleaires; elle contient egalement les dispositions relatives a la responsabilite des exploitants d'installations nucleaires terrestres et de navires nucleaires. Cette loi a ete amendee a plusieurs reprises depuis sa publication en 1959, la derniere revision etant entree en vigueur le 1er octobre 1975Additional details
