Long term strategy to deploy SMR fleet in Europe

Creators

Description

Synthos Green Energy has agreements nad joint ventures confirming interest to build over 20 small modular reactors in Poland. The company is conducting regulatory dialogue with the PAA (National Atomic Energy Agency in Poland). We are in the process of applying for the General Opinion (opinion on technical and organisational aspects of planned deployment of BWRX-300 SMRs). The process was supported e.g. by Fortum, Exelon Generation, Baker McKenzie, CMS, Excel Services, X Energy and GE Hitachi. Air pollution is one of the most important factors when deciding on future energy generation. An investment boom in new capacities needed to close a 190 TWh/year electricity demand-supply gap by 2050. Poland the leading district heating market in the EU is facing a transition, SMR is a competitive solution for the replacement of medium-sized coal units to be decommissioned soon. To fill the gap and achieve national objectives a mix of new renewable, nuclear and gas capacities are to be built. Preliminary assessment identified demand for close to 50 SMR units in Poland.
