Description
A one-particle kinetic-energy density functional is derived for one dimension and for spherically symmetric three-dimensional systems. This functional, though an alternative expression of the well-known Weizsaecker formula, has an essentially new form, showing a new direction for developing approximations for the general noninteracting kinetic-energy density functional
