Description

Only 10 years ago the initial Einstein observations excited the astronomical world with discoveries of new phenomena and the confrontation of theory with the real world. Stellar astronomy was especially blessed by the pleasant but unanticipated discovery that nearly all classes of stars are x-ray sources. The conventional wisdom then was that stellar coronae are heated by acoustic waves generated in stellar convective zones. Major conclusions about stellar coronae from Einstein data are summarized and outstanding work for the AXAF project noted. (author)
