High resolution scintillation camera

  • 1. Shimadzu Seisakusho Ltd., Kyoto (Japan)

Description

As scintillation cameras have been used widely in nuclear medicine, the improvements of their performances, especially of the spatial resolution, are strongly required. To satisfy the requirements, two kinds of scintillation cameras with different field of view have been developed. The intrinsic resolution for the camera with 33-centimeter field of view is 3.4 mm (FWHM sup(99m)Tc) and 4.0 mm for the one with 35-centimeter field of view. These results are obtained by some improvements of optical system in detector and electronic circuits. This article describes the performances and clinical applications of these high resolution cameras. (author)
