Moessbauer spectroscopic studies of the ternary alloys Fe-Zr-C and Fe-Ni-Zr
Description
The isomer shifts, quadrupole splittings and magnetic hyperfine fields in Fe-Ni-Zr (Zr=0.2, 0.4 and 0.6%) and Fe-Zr-C (C=1,2 and 3%) alloys are measured at room temperature using the Moessbauer effect. A change is noted in the isomer shift as well as the peak width for the Fe-Ni-Zr system at higher (0.6%) concentration. Results for the Fe-Zr-C alloys indicate a possible structural change at 3% C. The results are explained on the basis of the electronic configuration and the structure of the alloys. (author)
