On radial dependence of particle distribution functions of Earth, Jupiter and Saturn radiation belts
Creators
Description
The radial profiles of particle distribution functions with fixed values of the first and second adiabatic invariants in the Earth, Jupiter and Saturn radiation belts (electrons of the internal and protons of the external Earth radiation belts, protons and oxygen ions of the Jupiter and Saturn radiation belts) are considered. It is shown that for some values of the first adiabatic invariant at the given values of the second one the radial dependences of distribution functions in rather wide range of L values can be approximated by the formula from the exponential distribution in magnetic flux in the dipole magnetic field. These results together with the earlier obtained data for the Earth radiation belts show the likeness of processes forming the radial profiles of different radiation belts
