Gas-phase isotope fractionation factor for the proton-bound dimer of the ethoxide
Description
The gas-phase isotope fractionation factor, phi/sub gp/, for A2L- where A = EtO and L = H or D has been measured by using ion cyclotron resonance spectroscopy. Two approaches to the formation of the A2L- dimers are presented. The value for phi/sub gp/ is 0.46 +- 0.1. This low value for phi/sub gp/ is consistent with motion of a proton in a potential with a small central maximum or no maximum
