Evaluation of the detection features of UD-807 dosimeters and their suitability for use in personal dosimetry

Description

This paper contains the results of studies into the possibilities and limitations of the use of UD-807 Panasonic dosimeters in extremity dosimetry. Detection efficiency, critical levels, detection limits, energy and angular dependence were determined with respect to the beta radiation emitted by 90Sr|90Y and photon radiation in the range of 33 keV–662 keV. The calibration coefficients, expressed in units of personal dose equivalent Hp(0.07), differed by no more than 10% for all types of radiation when the radiation reached the dosimeters at an angle of 0°. In other configurations, if the angle between the normal to the dosimeter surface and the radiation direction increased, the detection efficiency rapidly decreased - to a lesser extent in relation to the 33 keV photon radiation than to the beta radiation. The reduction was insignificant for photon radiation emitted by 137Cs. - Highlights: • The capabilities of the UD-807 dosimeters was evaluated. • The calibration capacity in relation to different ionizing radiation was evaluated. • The energy response for different radiation was evaluated. • The angular response for different radiation at full angle range was evaluated. • The critical and lower limit of detection levels was evaluated.
