Sixteen years after the first edition, the new edition takes account of the dramatic developments in medical imaging. All entries have been revised, and the number of entries has been increased considerably. Special attention was given to magnetic resonance tomography and the many options of image-assisted interventions. Modern methods of nuclear medical diagnosis and radiotherapy were considered as well as new legal regulations on radiation protection.
