Symmetries in discrete time quantum field theory

  • 1. Dept. of Matsematics, Univ. of Nottingham Univ. Park, Nottingham (United Kingdom)

Description

The discretization of time in quantum field theory destroys Lorentz symmetry. In this talk we discuss the choice of frame in which to discrete time, the generation of the residual symmetries via the Maeda-Noether theories and the construction of Logan invariants, which are analogues of the Hamiltonian. We also discuss the recovery of Lorentz symmetry in scattering amplitudes in the continuous time limit. Our formalism is applied to scalar, Dirac and Maxwell fields
