Double walled tank type reactor

  • 1. Central Research Inst. of Electric Power Industry, Tokyo (Japan)

Description

The double walled tank type reactor comprises a manometer seal disposed between a roof slab formed on a base slab and an opening at the upper end of a secondary container. The manometer is constituted with a double walled cylindrical gutter disposed at the circumferential edge of the opening at the upper end of the secondary container, a cylindrical body having a lower end inserted to the double walled cylindrical gutter and a molten metal injected in the double walled cylindrical gutter. Since the double walled cylindrical gutter on the side of the second container and the cylindrical body on the side of the roof slab are sealed from each other with the liquid to be injected in the double walled cylindrical gutter and the relative displacement between the double walled cylindrical gutter and the cylindrical body is free, a great amount of heat expansion can be absorbed. Further, upon occurrence of a sodium-water reaction accident in the steam generator, the manometer seal easily and reliably releases pressure by discharge due to the pressure difference of the liquid in the double walled cylindrical gutter. A pressure control mechanism is disposed to the base slab to discharge the reaction products to the outside thereby suppressing the pressure elevation in the base slab and improving reliability.
