Group-theoretical basis for the value of the fine-structure constant
Description
If the electromagnetic four-potential is expressed as an invariant superposition of 42 symmetry-related field operators, it is possible to account for the experimental value of the fine-structure constant. Such a theory yields the formula h c/e2 = N (N-1)/4π = 137.0324 with N = 42 the order of the invariance group
