Hafnium effect on the structure and properties of nickel alloys

  • 1. Tsentral'nyj Nauchno-Issledovatel'skij Inst. Chernoj Metallurgii, Moscow (USSR)

Description

Hafnium effect on the structure and properties of nickel TRWVIA alloy containing from 0.1 to 2 % of hafnium has been investigated. It has been ascertained that alloy properties dependence on hafnium content is extreme in nature. The highest values of long-term strength and plasticity are obtained at 0.4-0.5 % Hf. The increase of long-term strength at t>1000 deg C is connected with the refining effect of hafnium additions. Hafnium changes considerably the morphology and composition of alloy structure components, promotes the hardening of γ'-phase, increases the intercrystalline strength and plasticity
