Plasma spraying of high-temperature superconductors - production and post-treatment of various coating substrate compounds
Description
Suitable processing methods for high-temperature superconductors are essential to the application of these new materials. Plasma spraying is profitable for this purpose, especially in the case of large area coatings. In this work, the deposition of thick YBa2Cu3O7-x and Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8 layers onto metallic substrates by vacuum plasma spraying is described. Various commercially available superconducting powders are tested concerning their possible use for plasma spraying. The suitability of nickel based alloys and stainless steel as substrate materials is investigated. After plasma spraying the coatings are not superconducting. For reconstruction of the superconducting phases on the one hand, and improvement of the superconducting properties of the coatings on the other, annealing and melt texturing experiments are done. Their effects on the coating substrate compounds are analysed. (orig.)

Geeignete Verarbeitungsmethoden fuer Hochtemperatur-Supraleiter sind essentiell fuer die Anwendbarkeit dieser neuen Materialien. Das Plasmaspritzen ist diesbezueglich von Vorteil, insbesondere wenn es um die Beschichtung grosser Flaechen geht. In der vorliegenden Arbeit wird die Herstellung von YBa2Cu3O7-x- und Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8-Dickschichten auf Metallsubstraten mit Hilfe des Vakuumplasmaspritzens beschrieben. Verschiedene Verwendbarkeit fuer das Plasmaspritzen getestet. Die Eignung von Nickel-Basislegierungen und Edelstahl als Substratmaterialien wird untersucht. Nach dem Plasmaspritzen sind die Schichten nicht supraleitend. Zur Wiederherstellung der supraleitenden Phasen einerseits und zur Verbesserung der supraleitenden Eigenschaften der Schichten andererseits werden Temper- und Schmelztexturversuche durchgefuehrt. Ihre Auswirkungen auf die verschiedenen Schicht-Substrat-Verbunde werden untersucht. (orig.)
