Description
The effective neutron-proton interaction has been studied using the spectra of the odd-odd deformed nuclei in the rare earth region. Finite range central and central plus tensor forces have been used in the calculations. These models show qualitatively the role of neutron-proton interaction in odd-odd deformed nuclei. The theoretical results are compared with 55 experimental Gallagher-Moszkowski doublet splittings and 19 experimental Newby shift in the region 156<=A<=188. (author)
