European opinion poll: the public acceptance of the nuclear energy keeps on growing

Description

A public opinion poll performed in 2010 involving 26.500 european people from the 27 member states shows that: -) 51% of the public think that the negative aspects of the nuclear power override the positive aspects, -) 56% of the public want to maintain or increase the today's part of the nuclear power in the energy mix, -) 82% of the public think that the management of radioactive wastes should be regulated at the European level, -) 52% of the public disagree with the statement that nuclear plants are sufficiently protected against terrorist attacks, -) 74% of the public say that they are not adequately informed on nuclear energy.
