Description

The main regularities in the behaviour of the magnetic, electrokinetic, and superconducting properties of transition metal monocarbide and mononitride solid solutions are reviewed by critical analysis of the data obtained by different authors. These data are discussed in the light of the existing concepts about the electron spectrum and the conductivity mechanisms in transition metal carbides and nitrides. Consideration is restricted to experimental findings on polycrystalline specimens produced by conventional high-temperature sintering. The rather scarce data on kinetic properties of single crystals of simple carbides evidence that their physical quantities differ insignificantly from those of polycrystalline sintered specimens
