Refined crystal structure of iriginite

Description

X-ray study of synthetic iriginite UO2Mo2O7x3H2O, crystallized in rhombic crystal system with lattice parameters a=12.835, b=6.701, c=11.514 A, Z=4, with Pca2 space group is carried out. In the structure uranyl ions (U-O 1.75 and 1.77 A) are bonded by zigzag chains of MoO5(H2O) octahedrons (Mo-O 1.69-2.43 A) in layers, in which pentagonal bipyramides UO2O5 (U-Osub(eq.) 2.34- 2.42 A) are coordination polyhedron of uranium atom. Alternative variants of the structure description, which account for peculiarities of distortion of coordination polyhedrons of molybdenum atoms are considered
