Description
High temperature materials corrosion or dry corrosion is a phenomenon which concerns a lot of industries and in particular the nuclear industry. The analysis of the phenomena occurring during corrosion requires knowledge in metallurgy, electrochemistry, thermodynamics, chemical kinetics, solid state chemistry and physics and involves the use of surface characterization methods. Published with the aim to objectively solve the corrosion problems encountered in industry, this book is divided into 5 parts: 1)thermodynamics of corrosion 2)experimental aspects of the dry corrosion 3)structure of the formed layers 4)mechanisms of high temperature corrosion 5)current techniques of corrosion protection. Examples are proposed and commented, in particular the oxidation kinetics of the zircaloy-4 alloy (constituent of PWR fuel cans). This book is intended to aid searchers and engineers of metallurgical industry, of chemical engineering and of civil engineering. (O.M.)
