Guidelines for designing fire protection systems for cable trays: Final report
Description
This report describes a methodology for the design and specification of appropriate fire detection and suppression systems to protect cable trays in nuclear power plants. As a basis for determining the preferred fire protection systems to be used, the concept of the Damage Limit Option is introduced. Four Damage Limit Options are presented, each having a different level of acceptable damage based upon the required speed of detector and suppression system response. The design methodology includes guidance in the design of fire detection and water suppression systems. In addition, guidance is provided for the coordination of fire protection design with external organizations that specify requirements and internal organizations that design other plant systems. 24 refs., 10 figs., 4 tabs
