EdF, an eclectic newcomer

Creators

Description

Natural gas is an inevitable energy source for electric power producers because of the clients' requests for dual gas-electricity offers and because of its use for power generation. Through its foreign positions, the EdF (Electricite de France) group is already largely involved in natural gas with more than 28 Gm3 negotiated in Europe in 2005, i.e. the equivalent of more than half of the French market, in particular through its activities in Germany, Great Britain, Italy and France. This article makes a brief overview of the gas activity of EdF and focusses on its daughter company EdF Energy with C. Daniels, Chief operating officer of the energy branch of this company. (J.S.)
