Electron--electron double resonance investigations of irradiated organic single crystals

Description

The electron-nuclear dipolar relaxation mechanism (END) which depends on the nuclear spin quantum number and nuclear gyromagnetic ratio was found to be a predominant intramolecular relaxation mechanism above room temperature for (CH3)2CCOOH in irradiated α-aminoisobutyric acid and dimethylmalonic acid and for CH2COOH in irradiated malonic acid crystals. An intramolecular cross relaxation mechanism simultaneously connecting states of different nuclear and electron spin quantum numbers leads to enhanced ESR signals for (CH3)CCOOH in irradiated α-aminoisobutyric acid and dimethylmalonic acid crystal. Three H--D exchange reactions were investigated in irradiated glycine-d3. (U.S.)
