Effect of driving forces on radial plasma flow and estimate of the energy expended on compensating for diffusion in tori

  • 1. I. N. Vekua Physicotechnical Institute, Sukhumi

Description

The effect of the driving forces which arise during the absorption of energy from rf waves by a plasma on diffusive expansion is analyzed. The radial drift of the particles in the field of these driving forces is superimposed on the diffusion flux. The sign of the drift component depends on the direction of the wave phase velocity and can be chosen beforehand. This circumstance makes it possible to control the diffusion. The power absorption required for complete cancellation of the diffusive expansion is estimated
